We are seeking a highly capable and driven Senior Works Manager to lead and coordinate site-based operations across our projects. This is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring Perfect Delivery across Safety, Health, Environment, Quality (SHEQ), programme, and budget performance. You will lead the safe and efficient delivery of works, ensuring that all site activities are planned, executed, and monitored to the highest standards—while actively driving programme performance and team excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership
    • Oversee all construction activities to ensure projects are delivered in line with design, programme, and budget requirements.
    • Co-ordinate works across various work sites to ensure efficiency of resource allocation.
    • Control and coordinate labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors to maximise efficiency and output.
    • Drive progress against programme through proactive planning and delivery oversight.
  • Health, Safety & Quality (SHEQ)
    • Ensure all works are carried out safely in accordance with Safe Systems of Work.
    • Conduct regular safety and environmental inspections, driving corrective actions where required.
    • Maintain high-quality standards, achieving “right first time” delivery and minimising rework.
    • Ensure all records (permits, inspections, briefings) are accurate and up to date.
    • Manage, lead, motivate, and develop site supervisors.
    • Co-ordinate site supervision teams to ensure suitable cover is maintained.
    • Coordinate effectively with engineering, SHEQ, subcontractors, suppliers, and client teams.
    • Identify training needs and support ongoing workforce development.
    • Deliver clear communication and daily briefings.
    • Contribute to programme planning and analysis, identifying risks and improvement opportunities.
    • Participate in procurement of subcontractors and advise on commercial aspects.
    • Support weekly cost meetings and highlight performance improvements.
    • Identify and communicate changes, variations, and enabling works.
  • Reporting & Documentation
    • Maintain a comprehensive daily site diary including key activities, changes, and stakeholder interactions.
    • Ensure accurate allocation sheets, delivery tickets, and plant returns are submitted on time.
    • Support engineering teams in method statements and programme development.

What We’re Looking For:

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years experience as Senior/Works Manager.
  • SMSTS (5-day) certification.
  • First Aid at Work qualification.
  • Proven experience managing complex construction operations.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, health & safety, and legal compliance.
