The Project Engineer leads civil works delivery, managing design integration, procurement, and construction for compliant, high-quality outcomes. Provides technical and commercial oversight, coordinates resources and interfaces, and drives programme, safety, and assurance within nuclear regulations.
Key responsibilities- Setting Out & Surveying: Lead assurance of setting out; approve control points and tolerances, resolve discrepancies, and sign off survey records.
- Quality Control: Leads QC on site; author/approve ITPs, verify test regimes, manage NCRs and defects, and drive Perfect Delivery.
- Health, Safety & Environment: Lead safe systems of work; approve RAMS, ensure CDM and site licence compliance, champion nuclear safety culture.
- Planning & Coordination: Develop short-term plans; align programme and resources, chair meetings, manage interfaces, risks, and recovery.
- Supervision & Monitoring: Manage engineers and subcontractors; set expectations, monitor performance, and ensure compliance.
- Problem Solving: Provide technical leadership; challenge designs for constructability and cost, propose solutions, and elevate issues promptly.
- Materials Management: Approve requisitions, verify compliance, optimise logistics, and control cost for materials as required.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain assured records; produce client reports, manage redlines and as-builts, and LTQR.
- Digital Engineering: Champion BIM workflows; oversee model coordination, digital surveying, and ensure data quality for decision-making.
- Continuous Improvement: Capture lessons learned; mentor engineers, standardise methods, promote innovation aligned to programme and safety.
- Education: Level 6 qualification – BSc (Hons) or BEng (Hons) in Civil or Structural Engineering. MSc or MEng desirable.
- Professional Membership: Member of ICE (IEng MICE or CEng MICE) or actively working towards professional status.
- Certifications: Valid CSCS card, CITB Site Safety Plus (SMSTS or similar).
- Experience: Experience in project engineering, coordination, and technical assurance within regulated environments (nuclear preferred).
- Technical Skills: Proficient in digital engineering tools (e.g., BIM), AutoCAD, and understanding of temporary works and construction sequencing.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction methods, health & safety legislation, regulatory compliance, and quantity measurement principles.
- IT Skills: Confident user of MS Office and project management systems.
