This is an excellent opportunity to help drive the commercial management of the first live scheme across the whole of the Great Grid Partnership - TKRE Overhead Line reconductoring project. The role will be a key contributor to the commercial delivery, including main contract administration, financial control, forecasting, CVRs, and the procurement and management of the supply chain.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead commercial delivery within a designated geographic area.
- Produce accurate and timely commercial reports, forecasts, and advice to support decision‑making.
- Manage subcontract procurement, administration, interim applications, variations, and final accounts.
- Oversee accurate cost reporting, forecasting, and risk management.
- Manage upstream and downstream change control processes.
- Ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance of all commercial data, documentation, processes, and reporting.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with project stakeholders, including the client’s commercial team.
- Identify, manage, and elevate commercial risks or issues to senior leadership.
- Support, mentor, and guide junior commercial staff.
- Deliver against internal and external commercial performance targets.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of quantity surveying and commercial management practices.
- Use finance systems (such as COINS) to maintain effective financial controls.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- BSc in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent commercially related discipline, ideally working toward professional membership (RICS or CIOB).
- Strong background in heavy civils; substation experience is desirable.
- Essential experience working with NEC3 or NEC4 forms of contract.
- Supervisory or management experience within a project commercial team.
- Ability to manage a small team while reporting into senior leadership for strategic guidance.
- Strong commercial acumen with a delivery‑focused mindset.
- Experience within energy‑related or major infrastructure environments.
