We are looking for a Trainee Design Manager, who is wanting to move into a site-based apprenticeship position. The role will report to the Construction Director and would be responsible for supporting and learning from Design Managers within the business. This would include:

  • Supporting with environmental accreditation compliance
  • Assisting with tender documentation
  • Assisting with the review of proposed sub-contractor designs
  • Assisting in mock-up and sample sign off
  • Providing support to Project Managers, if design issues arise on site
  • Supporting with quality assurance
  • To support in managing sub-contractor and client relationships

This role will be part of our Foundation Programme (early careers programme). The Foundation Programme provides a rounded perspective of our business via additional training, rotations and mentoring over 3 years. It is important to get to know us, our people and how we work. The programme is driven by a structured training curriculum designed to develop business and behavioural skills. The training sessions give a deeper understanding of how we operate as a business. Additionally, you gain responsibility as part of the team, build your network across the business, whilst receiving necessary developmental support.

Upon completion of the Foundation Programme, you will go on to develop and grow your career with us – the development and progression opportunities do not start or end with the programme.

What can I expect? Successful candidates will be enrolled initially on a level 4 Construction Design and Build Technician apprenticeship at university on day release for 2 years. Upon successful completion, you will enrol on a top-up degree in Architectural Technology (Design and Construction Management) for a further 3 years on day release. This is funded by the company at no expense to yourself.

You will have a dedicated mentor who will share their knowledge and experiences whilst having reviews with the Early Careers Manager and your mentor every 6 months for the duration of the programme. You will get to learn from some of the most talented, experienced, and well-established people in the industry who have in depth knowledge and commitment to delivering exceptional work for our clients.

You will be expected to create your own success and make your own decisions. In return you will be well rewarded and continuously supported. We take your development seriously… how?

  • By giving you access to the best and most challenging jobs in the market
  • By exposing you to the most talented minds to learn from
  • By providing you formal developmental training through our Foundation Programme
  • By providing you with a natural support network in the form of your Foundation cohort, who will all be starting at a similar time.

Our ideal candidate will be committed to a career within the fit out sector and should display the following attributes: curiosity, teamwork, ambition, drive and responsibility.
