We are looking for a Site Agent with experience in managing HV substation construction works (civils, structures, plant, cabling, or M&E). This is to support the delivery of a range of schemes including the major £70m+ Trawsfynydd Substation project. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to work on the long-term Electricity Transmission Partnership in the North West. The role will be site‑based for the 2–3‑year construction phase, supporting multi‑disciplinary design, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities from early works through installation, testing, and handover.
Role Responsibilities
- The Site Agent will oversee day‑to‑day construction delivery at Trawsfynydd Substation, ensuring all works are completed safely, on programme, within budget and in full compliance with technical, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide on‑site leadership, coordinating subcontractors and multiple disciplines, managing daily site operations, and acting as the main point of contact for construction delivery.
- Lead the safe and efficient delivery of construction works at Trawsfynydd Substation, ensuring activities are completed to programme, budget and required standards.
- Manage day‑to‑day site operations, including supervision of subcontractors and direct labour.
- Coordinate construction activities in line with approved programmes, method statements, drawings, specifications, and technical standards.
- Provide strong leadership on health, safety, and environmental performance, always promoting a safe working environment.
- Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, site rules, company HSEQ procedures, and implement RAMS and work permits effectively.
- Proactively manage site risks, interfaces, constraints, and environmental impacts throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain high standards of construction quality, managing inspections, test plans, quality documentation and closing out defects/non‑conformances.
- Consult effectively with the Project Manager, engineering, planning and commercial teams, providing accurate progress updates, forecasts, and reports.
- Attend and lead site meetings, toolbox talks, coordination sessions, and support client inspections, audits, and site visits.
- Manage site logistics, welfare, access and temporary works, ensuring materials, plant and resources meet programme requirements.
- Coordinate interfaces with adjacent works, outages, and operational constraints.
- Control project costs, ensuring adherence to budgets and efficient use of resources.
- Collaborate effectively with a high‑performing team and demonstrate ambition in delivering complex engineering challenges.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Site Manager on large infrastructure and/or substation projects.
- Experience working on similar power infrastructure or civil engineering schemes at Agent or Sub Agent level.
- Strong experience in EHV cable installation within substations (advantageous).
- Background in managing construction projects from planning through to delivery.
- Demonstrable experience managing subcontractors and multi‑disciplinary site teams.
- Strong project management capabilities.
- Commercial awareness and cost control proficiency.
- Effective team coordination and planning skills.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities.
- Strong working knowledge of health and safety legislation, including CDM Regulations, and thorough understanding of H&S compliance.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and programmes.
- Knowledge of quality assurance processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Experience working under NEC or similar forms of contract.
