We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Section Engineer to join our Rail team on the Flitwick / Mill Hill Broadway project supporting the delivery of a range of exciting schemes. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is keen to further develop their skills and take on increasing levels of responsibility.
Role Responsibilities
- Interpret engineering drawings and specifications and provide technical support to the project team.
- Plan, organise, and supervise site resources to meet programme and contractual requirements.
- Prepare and implement risk assessments, method statements, and inspection and test plans.
- Ensure works are delivered safely, accurately, and in compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Set out and check works, arranging independent verification where required.
- Monitor site activities, address non‑conformances, and maintain exacting standards of workmanship.
- Communicate effectively with clients, design teams, supply chain, and site supervision.
- Maintain accurate records including site diaries, progress updates, variations, and material orders.
- Manage materials, testing, deliveries, and cost‑coded documentation.
- Support programme planning, progress monitoring, and reporting.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- HNC, HND, BEng, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Valid CSCS card.
- Experience in civil engineering construction, ideally within rail and/or structures projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, specifications, and testing regimes.
- Ability to produce, interpret, and explain engineering drawings and technical information.
- Good planning, organisational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Effective supervision and teamwork skills with an initiative‑taking, hands‑on approach.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Competent IT skills, including MS Office and project systems.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and seek guidance when required.
