As a Senior Commissioning Engineer, you will be aligned to the Engineering Function throughout the project lifecycle. You will be responsible for developing and delivering the Commissioning work scope for your assigned area. You will lead a team to ensure activities are delivered safely, effectively, and in line with established processes. You will collaborate with an internal multi-disciplined project delivery team and interface with external stakeholders and vendors. You will guide Commissioning Engineers through the project lifecycle to achieve successful delivery of activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team delivering Commissioning work scope across the project lifecycle at various regulated nuclear sites as required.
  • Ensure safe delivery of activities to the required quality standards and in compliance with applicable processes.
  • Identify resource requirements and manage allocation effectively.
  • Review and report on work progress and performance, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
  • Plan, balance, and prioritize team resources to support timely and cost-effective delivery aligned with project strategy and schedule.
  • Provide input into other project workstreams (Design, Safety Case, Procurement, Construction & Completions, Project Controls) to ensure commissioning requirements are integrated.
  • Develop and execute delivery plans in line with overall project strategies and schedules.
  • Establish and maintain asset care arrangements.
  • Identify and manage project risks, including monitoring residual risks.
  • Diagnose faults and propose/implement solutions through the Fault Observation Process (FOBs).
  • Coordinate effectively between delivery teams and stakeholders to enable safe and efficient work execution.
  • Maintain training and experience to hold relevant appointments for project delivery (e.g., Commissioning, Electrical, Mechanical).
  • Provide ongoing coaching and development within the team.
  • Apply and promote Project Delivery Fundamentals and organizational practices in all activities.

Essential Qualifications & Experience (SQEP Essentials)

  • HNC or equivalent Level 4 qualification in a relevant technical subject, or Incorporated Engineer status.
  • Proven experience leading and supervising engineering or technical teams with demonstrable success in delivery.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to various regulated nuclear sites within the UK and, occasionally, overseas.
  • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel) with experience producing test documentation and reports.
  • Experience in fault finding within technical, engineering, or operational environments.
  • Experience in setting to work new systems or processes.
  • Experience producing Commissioning documentation.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience (SQEP Desirables)

  • Degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in a relevant discipline, or Chartered Engineer status.
  • Experience leading Commissioning work scope in highly regulated environments.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Nuclear sector experience, including large-scale projects.
