Design Manager β Civils / Infrastructure
We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our dynamic team. As a Design Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the design aspects of our framework projects. This will involve supporting tenders, setting budgets for future works, supporting ECI works, delivering projects in progress and measuring performance of live and completed projects.
By establishing effective project design resources you will ensure compliance with client and departmental procedures. Your contributions will be integral to our success.
Responsibilities:
- Establish, maintain, and manage effective project design resources and team profiles at bid, ECI and delivery stages.
- Lead and provide a professional, comprehensive, and sustainable design service for clients and key partners/suppliers.
- Manage and coordinate the overall design process through RIBA and client design stages, challenging briefs, and bringing innovation and continuous improvement to projects.
- Ensure completion and compliance of design management departmental procedures at all stages.
- Contribute to design strategy and approach discussions.
- Ensure appropriate design resources, skill sets, and structures are in place.
- Plan and manage design reviews and coordination meetings.
- Coordinate with discipline lead designers to deliver design solutions.
- Monitor progress against programmes and report to the project team.
- Ensure that design fully aligns with defined specifications and cost plan budget allowances.
- Coordinate activities of the design team, contractors, and statutory bodies in line with critical dates.
- Maintain design within cost restraints while incorporating customer requirements.
- Coordinate change control systems and ensure changes are accounted for, authorised, and implemented as necessary.
Qualifications and Skills:
- HND/HNC/Degree in relevant field.
- Membership of relevant Professional Institute e.g., CIOB, ICE, IStructE, IMechE, IET). (desirable)
- Proven ability to lead and provide a professional, comprehensive, and sustainable design service.
- Experience in delivery of Multi-Disciplinary design packages.
- Experience in collation of Pre-Construction information.
- Experience in bidding and winning work. (desirable)
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong management skills with the ability to motivate self and colleagues.
- Excellent operational planning and time management skills.
- Sound knowledge of construction practices and standards.
- Specialist knowledge in chosen field.
