BakerHicks is seeking a site-based Construction Manager, based at our client’s facility in Barnard Castle, to be responsible for overseeing and coordinating construction activities related to the delivery of EPCM projects. This role supports and reports directly to the Project Manager and will involve working closely with subcontractors and other stakeholders, ensuring individuals are put to work safely. The Construction Manager will oversee the successful execution of the project, ensuring all activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and in alignment with industry standards and client specifications.
This role will be responsible for managing on-site construction teams, tracking progress, addressing challenges as they arise, and ensuring the project is completed on time and within budget. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to coordinate various teams and stakeholders to keep the project moving forward seamlessly. This role requires daily on-site presence, so you will reside in the surrounding area or be willing and able to travel.
Key Objectives- Proven ability to plan, manage and control both preconstruction activities and construction activities.
- Knowledge of industry best practice and the ability to organise, make decisions and build relationships with stakeholders.
- Direct management of construction activities and workers.
- Identify and mitigate risks to ensure successful project delivery.
- Foster a culture of safety, excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement during the lifecycle of the project.
- Document all construction activities, including daily reports, inspection records, change orders, and as-built drawings for project documentation and closeout.
- Help to enforce safety policies, procedures, and regulations on site to minimise the risk of accidents and injuries.
- Organise safety inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement appropriate controls.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in construction management and accredited knowledge of construction safety management.
- Recognised professional certification in construction site supervision.
- CSCS black card.
- Competent TWC (Temporary Works Coordinator).
- IOSH (Health & Safety) certification.
- Significant experience as Construction Manager on complex industrial projects - ideally pharmaceutical sector.
- NEBOSH is advantageous.
