We are looking for an experienced and talented Senior Design Manager to manage the design aspects of tenders and projects in progress within the London Business. This position is project & office based, with flexibility for occasional remote working.

About the role:

  1. Establish, maintain and manage effective project design resource and team profile at bid and delivery stages.
  2. Lead and provide a professional, comprehensive and sustainable design service for the customer and key partners and suppliers at bid and delivery stages.
  3. Manage and coordinate safely the overall design process through the RIBA design stages challenging the brief and bringing innovation and continuous improvements benefits to the projects at bid and delivery stages.
  4. Ensure completion and compliance of design management departmental procedures at bid and delivery stages.
  5. Involvement with ‘design strategy’ and approach.
  6. Ensure adherence to the design brief/scope of service and develop a comprehensive scope of service for key stages of project.
  7. Programme and manage all design reviews and coordination meetings.
  8. Ensure fully coordinated design strategy is in place and work closely with discipline lead designers to deliver coordinated design solutions.
  9. Establish the need for and input into design reviews.
  10. Ensure that design is developed in line with commercial and construction requirements and the cost plan budget allowances.

Ideally you will have:

Significant experience in the main contracting market with experience of working on Education, Healthcare, Leisure, Life Science projects. Facades experience is a must.

What are we looking for?

As an experienced Senior Design Manager, you will have a good understanding of construction design techniques and a HNC or HND (or equivalent) in Design Management or other equivalent commercially related subject, and/or CIOB Membership. Experience on both single stage and two stage tenders.
