Are you an engineer with a passion for optical and electro‑optical systems? We are seeking an Optronics Systems Engineer to join the engineering team at a defence manufacturing company in Kent.

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead multidisciplinary projects, integrating optical, laser, and electro‑optical technologies into advanced systems, while working in a collaborative and innovative environment.

The role

• Capturing stakeholder requirements and managing interfaces across disciplines
• Driving awareness of the full product lifecycle, including safety, reliability, and maintainability
• Developing system and sub‑system requirements, evaluating solutions, and managing technical risks
• Preparing technical content for bids and proposals, and participating in customer meetings
• Leading integration activities on products in development
• Planning and executing verification and validation testing
• Producing reports and documentation to support system design and delivery

Requirements

• Engineering degree (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years’ experience across the full product lifecycle and product manufacturing environments, optronics preferred
• Strong skills in optical, electro‑optical, laser, mechanical, electronics, control, and software disciplines
• Knowledge of requirements management, reliability prediction, FMECA, FTA, and safety cases
• Familiarity with Matlab/Simulink, Mil Specs, and Def Stan standards desirable
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and customer interaction skills
• Ability to multitask, analyse, and produce high‑quality reports

Due to the nature of our work, candidates must be eligible to obtain Security Clearance (SC level).

A full driving licence is required for occasional customer and service visits.
