Are you a mechanically engineer or technician looking for a new challenge? Would you like to work on large-scale pumps, diesel engines, electric motors and rotating equipment, developing specialist testing and commissioning skills within an established engineering business?

The Opportunity

We are working with a long-established engineering business specialising in the design and manufacture of engineered-to-order pump systems for customers across the UK and international markets. This is a genuinely hands-on role where you'll be involved in rigging, assembling, commissioning and testing large-scale pump and engine systems before they are delivered to customers. No previous pump testing experience is required- what matters is your mechanical ability, attention to detail, willingness to learn and commitment to working safely.

Key Tasks:

  • You will work as part of a skilled test team, taking large pump and motor assemblies through the complete testing process.
  • Your responsibilities will include:
    • Rigging and positioning pumps, motors and associated equipment within the test facility
    • Connecting pipework, valves and instrumentation
    • Setting up equipment ready for testing and commissioning
    • Running pumps through a range of operating conditions
    • Measuring flow, pressure, temperature, vibration, speed, current, voltage and power
    • Recording and analysing test data using computer-based systems
    • Working with mechanical and electrical colleagues to resolve issues
    • Maintaining a high standard of accuracy and workmanship throughout the test process

Background, Skills & Experience

  • Essential - Min NVQ2 in a Mechanical Engineering subject
  • Mechanically capable, practical and comfortable working with large industrial equipment.
  • Good computer skills, an eye for detail
  • A strong safety-first approach
