A leading UK engineering and manufacturing organisation, renowned for its heritage, technical capability and contribution to nationally significant programmes, is seeking a Composites Manufacturing Engineer to join its growing team in North Yorkshire. The Role
You will play a key part in improving, supporting and developing composite manufacturing processes across the full production lifecycle. The role focuses on driving efficiency, enhancing product quality and ensuring robust, repeatable processes - particularly within complex composite environments. From continuous improvement to hands-on production support, you will be central to ensuring that manufacturing operations run smoothly, safely and to the highest standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Driving continuous improvement using lean tools and techniques, improving efficiency and reducing waste
- Leading RCCA activities and implementing corrective and preventative actions to eliminate repeat non-conformances
- Developing and maintaining job cards and manufacturing documentation through to production handover
- Supporting first-off manufacture and validating processes with production teams
- Selecting appropriate materials, tooling, fixtures, and jigs for composite manufacturing
- Delivering manufacturing engineering projects from concept through to full production implementation
- Ensuring manufacturing methods are practical, efficient and aligned with design intent
Your skills and experience:
- Qualified Engineer
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes within a regulated production environment
- Experience with composite materials and associated manufacturing methods (prepreg, advanced composites, autoclave, layup)
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
- Demonstrable problem-solving capability using structured techniques such as RCCA
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and translate them into practical manufacturing processes
- A proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to support production teams effectively
