The Role
You will be responsible for the design and development of mechanisms, machine systems and complete special purpose machines. Key responsibilities include:
- Designing new machine systems, mechanisms, and components
- Modifying and improving existing machine designs to meet customer requirements
- Working on machine tool design, tooling, and automated systems
- Supporting manufacturing and assembly during machine build and commissioning
- Producing detailed CAD models and engineering drawings
- Managing BOMs and part releases via SAP
- Conducting design reviews, DFMEA and PFMEA
- Supporting technical bids and customer-facing documentation
Essential:
- Min 5 years design experience in:
- Machine tool design
- Special purpose machinery (SPM)
- Bespoke automated machines / production systems
- Strong background in mechanism and machine design (not just static components)
- Proven experience designing moving assemblies and complex systems
- Ability to work across the full machine lifecycle
Also desirable:
- HNC/HND/Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 3D CAD experience (Siemens NX - advantageous)
- Experience with manufacturing processes and assembly support
- Familiarity with DFMEA / PFMEA / design reviews
