Are you a passionate HSEQ leader looking to shape culture and make a lasting impact across a manufacturing site? We're seeking an experienced HSEQ Manager to lead the site's Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality function, with a strong emphasis on Health & Safety. As the visible HSE leader, you'll drive a proactive safety culture, coach managers, promote safe behaviours and ensure compliance is embedded across operations. You'll also provide strategic leadership to the Quality function, supporting quality systems, product and process quality through your team while maintaining high standards across the business. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being on the shop floor, influencing people and driving continuous improvement.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll be a key member of the senior leadership team responsible for driving the site's HSEQ strategy. With Health & Safety as your primary focus, you'll lead incident investigations, audits and risk assessments, coach managers, engage employees and ensure full legislative compliance while continuously improving the safety culture. You'll also provide leadership to an established Quality team, maintaining robust systems, meeting customer requirements and driving ongoing improvement. Together, you'll ensure the site operates safely, compliantly and efficiently while consistently delivering high standards to customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide visible leadership of the site's Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) function, promoting a proactive safety culture, operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation, environmental requirements, ISO standards, customer requirements and the Quality Management System.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), while monitoring HSEQ performance, analysing trends and driving improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, behavioural safety programmes, and support customer, certification, regulatory and external audits as the site's lead HSEQ representative.
  • Review and enhance risk assessments, safe systems of work, permit-to-work processes and quality procedures to ensure robust, compliant manufacturing operations.
  • Partner with managers to develop safe working practices, embed quality standards, strengthen accountability and support effective operational performance.
  • Lead, coach and develop the HSEQ team while building strong cross-functional relationships with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain and Technical teams.
  • Influence and challenge stakeholders at all levels to maintain high HSEQ standards, deliver continuous improvement and foster a culture of accountability.

About You

We're looking for someone whose background is firmly rooted in Health & Safety leadership within manufacturing. You'll likely have:

  • Significant experience in a senior Health & Safety or HSEQ leadership role, ideally with food safety background.
  • A strong track record of improving safety culture in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and environmental compliance.
  • Experience managing ISO management systems, particularly ISO 45001, with knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
  • Experience leading audits, investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • The confidence to influence people at every level, from the shop floor to senior leadership.
  • Experience managing and developing technical teams.
  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and Lead Auditor qualifications would be highly advantageous.
  • BRCGS / Food / Beverage manufacturing experience would be highly advantageous.

Why Apply?

This is a genuine opportunity to shape the future of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality within a well-established manufacturing business. You'll have the autonomy to influence business decisions, develop an experienced technical team and create a culture where safety is everyone's responsibility. If you're a hands-on HSE leader who enjoys being visible on the shop floor, coaching people, solving problems and driving lasting change, while overseeing a strong quality team, we'd love to hear from you. Lead from the front. Drive a world-class safety culture. Make a lasting impact. Apply today.
