This is a fantastic opportunity for a specification-focused sales professional who understands how projects are won - by engaging with architects, consultants, contractors and developers at the earliest design stages and becoming a trusted technical partner throughout the project lifecycle.

Working with a portfolio of high-performance roofing, insulated panel and renewable energy solutions, you will play a key role in influencing specifications, securing project opportunities and supporting the transition towards more sustainable, energy-efficient buildings.

If you have experience selling construction products through specification, enjoy building relationships with design teams, and have the technical confidence to influence major projects, this could be the next step in your career.

The Role

As Area Sales Manager, you will take ownership of developing specification opportunities throughout your territory, creating demand for innovative construction solutions and ensuring projects progress from initial concept through to successful completion. You will work closely with architects, specifiers, consultants, contractors and end users to position the business as the preferred technical partner for sustainable building solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and managing a strong pipeline of specification opportunities across your region.
  • Building long-term relationships with architects, architectural practices, consultants, developers and contractors.
  • Influencing projects at the design and specification stage to secure future sales opportunities.
  • Delivering CPD presentations, technical seminars and product training to specifiers and construction professionals.
  • Providing technical guidance on building envelope performance, renewable energy integration and low-carbon solutions.
  • Supporting architects and project teams with product selection, compliance and specification requirements.
  • Managing opportunities from initial enquiry through specification, tender, quotation and order conversion.
  • Working collaboratively with technical, marketing and internal sales teams to maximise project success.
  • Maintaining accurate CRM records, forecasts and project pipelines.
  • Providing market feedback and insight to support product development and commercial growth.

About You

We are looking for a commercially driven specification sales professional with a strong understanding of the construction industry and the ability to influence decisions at project level. Ideally, you will have:

  • Proven experience in specification sales within construction products, such as roofing, cladding, insulation, façades, building envelope, renewables or related sectors.
  • A track record of engaging with architects, consultants, developers and contractors to secure product specifications.
  • Experience influencing projects from early design stages through to procurement.
  • Strong technical understanding of construction products and their application within commercial buildings.
  • Knowledge of photovoltaic (PV), renewable energy or sustainable building technologies would be highly advantageous.
  • Confidence delivering CPD presentations and technical discussions with professional specifiers.
  • The ability to demonstrate commercial value alongside technical benefits.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with the credibility to operate at all levels.
  • A proactive, organised approach with the ability to manage multiple live projects and opportunities.
  • Experience using CRM systems to manage sales activity and forecasting.

  • A market-leading portfolio of innovative sustainable construction products.
  • The opportunity to influence major commercial projects across your territory.
  • Strong technical, marketing and commercial support.
  • Access to training and ongoing professional development.
  • Excellent career progression opportunities within a growing business.
  • Competitive salary, bonus scheme, company vehicle/car allowance and comprehensive benefits package.
