Global Industrial Machining Equipment in Portsmouth, Hampshire is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer who enjoys designing machines, mechanisms, and moving systems. We are partnering with a globally recognised engineering manufacturer developing specialist industrial equipment used across critical sectors including energy, marine, infrastructure, and heavy industry. As the business continues to invest in new product development, an opportunity has arisen for a Senior Machine Design Engineer to play a key role in designing the next generation of innovative industrial machinery.

This is a role for someone who thrives on solving complex engineering challenges and enjoys taking products from concept through design, testing, and launch.

Key Tasks:
  • Lead engineering projects from concept through to manufacture and product launch.
  • Design complex electro-mechanical systems and industrial machinery.
  • Develop mechanical assemblies, mechanisms, gear-driven systems, linkages, and precision moving components.
  • Produce detailed CAD models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks or Inventor.
  • Carry out engineering analysis including FEA, tolerance stack-ups, and design verification.
  • Support prototype development, testing, and validation activities.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, operations, suppliers, and customers to deliver robust, commercially viable solutions.
  • Drive product improvement through DFMEA, root cause analysis, and structured NPD processes.

  • Knowledge of FEA, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
  • Experience of DFMEA, root cause analysis, and formal product development processes.
  • UK Right to Work.
