The Role

We are seeking a keen and enthusiastic Electrical Design & Controls Engineer to join an experienced, multidisciplinary engineering team. In this role, you will utilize AutoCAD Electrical to design panels and schematics for a wide range of projects, spanning from small retro‑fit camera systems to large‑scale industrial automation machinery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring plans within AutoCAD Electrical to EU standards.
  • Program and configure PLCs and control systems for complex industrial automation systems.
  • Work closely with Design and Applications engineers to deliver technical specifications and project blueprints on time.
  • Support the manufacturing process by managing electrical fitting, panel wiring, machine assembly, and testing.
  • Integrate, maintain, and commission new and existing systems at customer sites (UK and overseas).

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3 years of industry experience in electrical design and industrial automation.
  • 3 years of experience using AutoCAD Electrical (or a highly similar package) for panel layouts.
  • Sound understanding of machinery safety, electrical control gear, and communication protocols (e.g., Profinet, EtherNet/IP, TCP/IP, IO‑link).
  • A logical approach to problem‑solving with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong willingness to work collaboratively.

Desirable

  • Educated to degree level (2.1 or above) in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Knowledge of robotics.
  • A clean, full UK driving licence.
