Permanent Direct Tax Manager position in Oxford supporting the group tax function and the business as it grows. This hands-on role focuses on managing corporate tax compliance and reporting for the global group. Our client offers flexible working but would like a minimum of three days per week in the office.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversight of corporate tax compliance process (outsourced) for the UK group and overseas subsidiaries; managing filing and payment deadlines, liaising with finance team, reviewing tax returns before submission.
- Assisting with aspects of corporate tax compliance (e.g. R&D tax credit claim, extensive detailed tax analysis required).
- Managing year-end and interim group tax external reporting; planning, liaising with finance team/advisors/auditors, completing tax workbooks and preparing disclosures.
- Managing transfer pricing compliance for the group; preparing master file and local files, reviewing calculations.
- Identifying process improvement opportunities and driving process excellence (including technology utilisation).
- Tax-related monthly management reporting (balance sheet reconciliations, journal preparation, presentations).
- Tax administration activities (managing external advisor quotes, invoices, budgeting, accruals, purchase orders, tax authority correspondence).
- Arranging preparation of tax-related forms and returns (certificates of residency, withholding tax returns, etc.).
- Ad hoc tax research and projects (global expansion, patent box, tax efficiency, transfer pricing).
- Assisting with group tax enquiries as required.
- Managing personal development and staying abreast of relevant tax law changes.
Qualifications / Experience
- Qualified accountant and tax specialist with a minimum of 3 years post-qualified tax experience.
- Good understanding of tax accounting and double-entry bookkeeping.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to critically review own work.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills.
- Ability to prioritise, work well under pressure, demonstrate good judgement.
- Self-motivated, proactive with drive to improve processes.
- Confident written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Pivot tables, SUM, LOOKUP, IF).
- Team-player, can collaborate or work independently.
- Ability to delegate and develop team members.
Desirable but Not Essential Skills / Experience
- Experience working in industry.

- Experience in D365 accounting (or equivalent) software.
