An independent and rapidly growing professional services firm based in the City of London is seeking a Private Client Tax Partner. The firm is partner-led and focused on people, their team, and clients. They combine market-leading sector expertise and excellent service capability to provide exceptional service in their chosen markets.

The Private Client team consists of around 35 team members and 4 partners, each with their own specialism. The core of the work focuses on providing clear and practical advice to high-net-worth individuals and their families in the UK and abroad. This includes assessing opportunities available to clients by helping to structure their affairs to minimise tax liability and preserve property for future generations. Due to the complexity of some of the work, this role is heavily integrated and will involve working closely with specialist teams around the firm.

The firm is seeking a new Partner in their specialist Private Client team with strong private client tax advisory skills and a background in successfully developing new business. This role offers a unique opportunity for a driven Private Client Specialist to help develop a highly respected, fast-growing, and talented team.

As a Partner in the team, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading a portfolio of high-net-worth clients.
  • Proactively marketing and developing the firm’s Private Client function and expertise, both internally and externally.
  • Providing input into the firm’s marketing publications and events as required.
  • Recognising and acting upon opportunities for cross-selling services and adding value.
  • Identifying opportunities for selling consultancy services to existing clients.
  • Maintaining existing contacts and developing new networks, creating opportunities for new business.
  • Providing sound technical advice on a broad range of private client matters.
  • Providing training, guidance, and support to your team members.
  • Providing leadership and mentorship to the team, as well as supporting personal development and professional growth within the team.
  • Supporting in the recruitment and training of the team.
  • Working with the firm’s Partner and Director Group to develop service offerings.
  • Budgeting and planning all work for clients in your portfolio, including overall responsibility for timely delivery and billing.
  • Oversight of the established team, including review of existing resources and their utilisation, and developing a structure alongside other partners within the team.

Skills and experience:

  • Full knowledge of UK tax matters relating to private clients and professional practices.
  • Strong leadership experience, involving line management of senior team members.
  • Significant and well-rounded experience working within Private Client tax, overseeing advisory projects and controlling budgets.
  • Advanced networking capabilities with negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Private client specialist with experience advising HNW and UHNW individuals.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing team members both professionally and technically.
  • Ability to recognise opportunities for new business, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to train other team members in tax and management issues.
  • Able to act as a role model for the team.
  • Committed to developing the team’s client base, as well as the team’s experience and structure.
