About the Role
We are seeking an operational Banking Infrastructure & Platform Engineer to support the technical management, stability, and daily performance of critical core platforms at an international bank in Central London.
Working within a tight-knit IT team, you will take hands-on ownership of intraday operations, EOD batch execution, and infrastructure support across Linux/Unix systems, Oracle WebLogic middleware, and core databases. This role offers significant cross-functional visibility, high ownership, and direct exposure across the bank's entire technical stack.
Key Responsibilities
- Platform Operations: Support day-to-day application availability, intraday processing, and overnight EOD batch process execution.
- Incident & Batch Resolution: Investigate and resolve production batch failures, performance delays, and system incidents within agreed service levels.
- System Administration: Perform routine administration, maintenance, housekeeping, and user access management across RedHat Enterprise Linux and IBM AIX environments.
- Scripting & Automation: Develop and maintain Shell scripts (Bash/Korn) to automate routine operational tasks and monitoring functions.
- Database & Middleware Support: Provide operational and monitoring support for Oracle WebLogic middleware, Oracle Databases, and SQL Server.
- Environment Maintenance: Assist with routine patching, system upgrades, monitoring, capacity planning, and operational documentation.
Required Experience & Technical Skills
- 2+ Years minimum of hands-on experience operating within an IT infrastructure or database support environment.
- Operating Systems: Strong administration skills in Linux (RHEL / RedHat) and/or IBM AIX (Unix) environments.
- Scripting: Solid experience with Shell Scripting (Bash or Korn).
- Databases & Middleware: Hands-on operational support for Oracle Databases , SQL Server , or Oracle WebLogic .
- Core banking platform experience (such as Oracle Flexcube ) is beneficial but not essential - full platform training will be provided for candidates with a strong foundational Linux/Unix and Oracle support background.
