Job Description
A leading asset management firm is looking to recruit a Funds Tax Manager to assist with the management of tax issues arising across their closed ended Private Equity and Infrastructure funds. The role covers all fund activity including investment SPVs, Funds and Carried Interest Partnerships. You will be reporting into an Associate Tax Director as part of the wider Private Markets funds finance team working on advisory and structuring projects in addition to the primary responsibility for overseeing all tax compliance matters. You will be a qualified tax specialist looking to further develop your experience in an Asset Management firm.
Key responsibilities:
- Contribute to the tax review of investments and divestments made by the Private Equity and Infrastructure funds, as well as in various strategic transactions (such as fund launches and secondaries), coordinating the help of external experts where required
- Manage relationships with external tax advisors and support the compliance processes. Oversee the Assistant Manager in the co-ordination and management of the tax compliance processes including, but not limited to, partnership tax for funds and carried interest vehicles, corporate tax for investment SPVs, FATCA, CRS, and DAC 6 in key relevant jurisdictions including the UK, US, Guernsey, Jersey, Luxembourg ensuring that tax returns are reviewed, finalised, and filed in accordance with agreed processes and deadlines and ensuring tax payments are made in a timely manner.
- Form a strong day to day relationship with key external advisors
- Assist with process improvement to ensure that compliance and advisory work is completed in a timely manner and within budget.
- Perform a detailed second level review of tax compliance work prepared by external administrators and advisors to ensure a high quality and error free work product.
- Working closely with the Assistant Manager on all BAU operational tax matters and supporting their growth.
- Lead the completion of US withholding tax packages with tax advisors annually. Assist with withholding tax matters and reclaims.
- Identify process efficiencies and work with the Funds Tax Associate Director and Funds Finance Associate Director to enhance these processes through the use of technology.
- Assist with HMRC, IRS, and any other tax authority correspondence to ensure positive working relationships.
You will be a qualified tax specialist (ACA / CTA or equivalent) with a background in corporate and/or partnership tax issues gained either working in-house or, more likely, in a Top 10 accounting firm. Experience and knowledge of financial services industry, specifically private markets fund structures including deals and transactions, would be highly beneficial. Candidates with financial services (not specific to funds) experience will be considered. Exposure to some US tax issues would be advantageous but is not essential
