Assistant Director of Finance

About the Role
We are seeking a qualified, forward-thinking finance professional to step into a senior leadership role and help shape our clients long-term strategy. Working alongside the Finance Director in a growing, multi-million-pound organisation, you will lead core financial operations, ensure robust compliance, and partner with multi-service leaders to support our social mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Direct and mentor the core finance team across transactional, payroll, and processing workflows.
- Statutory & Audit: Take full ownership of statutory annual accounts (FRS102, Charity SORP) and lead the year-end audit process.
- Treasury & Capital: Oversee group cash management, short/long-term forecasting, and capital expenditure tracking.
- Business Partnering: Advise non-finance budget holders across diverse sectors (housing, youth work, community hubs) without using technical jargon.
- Governance & Growth: Present balance sheet updates to the Board and model financial scenarios for new funding proposals, grants, and bids.
What We Are Looking For
- Qualifications: Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Experience: Proven financial leadership in a complex, multi-service environment (social housing, charity, or NFP experience is highly desirable).
- Skills: Strong technical grasp of statutory accounting, financial compliance, risk management, and VAT.
- Mindset: A proactive problem-solver who pairs commercial acumen with a strong alignment to our values-driven ethos.
