I’m currently recruiting for an experienced Pensions SME for an exciting 6-month contract opportunity in Chester. This role is ideal for someone with strong pensions expertise who can add value quickly in a fast-paced environment.

Overview

The role sits in a specialist team within a leading investment bank, supporting the trustees of its UK and Ireland pension arrangements. This is a hands-on role working across a complex portfolio of pension schemes, including a £4bn combined Defined Benefit (DB) and Defined Contribution (DC) plan, alongside additional legacy arrangements in the UK, Ireland, and the Channel Islands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring all pension plans are governed to a high standard and managed in line with UK pensions legislation and the Trustee business plan
  • Leading and delivering a range of pension-related projects (both recurring and ad hoc), including:
  • DC investment changes
  • Member communication initiatives
  • Annual benefit enrolment cycles
  • DC scheme design
  • DB de-risking and wind-up activity
  • Collaborating with external advisors such as actuaries, investment consultants, legal advisors, and scheme administrators
  • Supporting the full scheme lifecycle, including statutory disclosures and validation of monthly contributions
  • Managing and resolving escalated employee and member queries, including IDRP cases
  • Overseeing the production of member communications on behalf of the Trustee, including newsletters and annual benefit statements

    • Strong pensions understanding
    • Solid understanding of UK pensions legislation and governance frameworks
    • Experience working with DB and DC pension schemes
    • Confident stakeholder manager, with experience engaging trustees and external advisors
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex pension topics into clear messaging
