Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of professional, hands‑on experience designing, maintaining, and protecting large‑scale enterprise environments.
  • Deep technical familiarity with the Palo Alto product line and next‑generation firewalls is mandatory.
  • Must hold a UK passport or dual nationality and have at least 5 years of continuous, uninterrupted UK residency to obtain Security Clearance (SC).
  • Any recent travel to politically sensitive regions must be fully declared.
  • Strong attention to detail with a proven track record of producing accurate, robust technical documentation.
  • Background in traditional heavy routing/switching environments moving into dedicated security operations is well suited.
  • Candidates from a pure consultancy background without recent hands‑on engineering accountability will not be suitable.

Responsibilities

  • Drive both business‑as‑usual operational resilience and major project deliverables independently.
  • Provide subject matter expertise across the entire environment.
  • Play an active role in a 2‑to‑3‑year modernization project to replace core transactional and contract systems.
  • Build foundational infrastructure and defense frameworks to support the transformation.
  • Partner closely with overseas shared service centres and regional security centres of excellence to roll out and integrate security technologies.
  • Confidently explain and justify complex engineering solutions to both technical peers and non‑technical business leaders.
  • Operate as a hands‑on technical expert who looks under the hood of the technology stack.
  • Provide granular engineering examples and project detail in the CV for hiring review.

We are a major financial and mobility services enterprise offering a permanent, full‑time Senior Network Engineer / Cyber Engineer role based in the South East UK / Greater London area (M25 corridor).

We work in a hybrid model with 2 days onsite per week, increasing to 5 days onsite during the first month for induction.

The shift pattern alternates weekly between 07:00-15:30 and 09:30-18:00, plus a 1-in-3 weeks on‑call arrangement.
