The Role
We are seeking a keen and enthusiastic Electrical Design & Controls Engineer to join an experienced, multidisciplinary engineering team. In this role, you will utilize AutoCAD Electrical to design panels and schematics for a wide range of projects, spanning from small retro-fit camera systems to large-scale industrial automation machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Electrical Design: Create electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring plans within AutoCAD Electrical to EU standards.
- Control Systems & Programming: Program and configure PLCs and control systems for complex industrial automation systems.
- Project Collaboration: Work closely with Design and Applications engineers to deliver technical specifications and project blueprints on time.
- Testing & Troubleshooting: Support the manufacturing process by managing electrical fitting, panel wiring, machine assembly, and testing.
- Commissioning: Integrate, maintain, and commission new and existing systems at customer sites (UK and overseas).
Required Skills & Experience
Essential:
- 3+ years of industry experience in electrical design and industrial automation.
- 3+ years of experience using AutoCAD Electrical (or a highly similar package) for panel layouts.
- Sound understanding of machinery safety, electrical control gear, and communication protocols (e.g., Profinet, EtherNet/IP, TCP/IP, IO-link).
- A logical approach to problem-solving with high attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong willingness to work collaboratively.
Desirable:
- Educated to degree level (2.1 or above) in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Knowledge of robotics.
- A clean, full UK driving license.
