Our client is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant / Management Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis, focusing on management reporting, financial analysis, and day-to-day accounting activities.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will provide essential support to the Finance Director and broader business, ensuring accurate financial reporting, reconciliations, and analysis. This is a varied role within a small, highly collaborative manufacturing business, offering exposure to the full production process from sales to operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the month-end process, including sales data transfer, stock invoice postings, stock valuation, product royalties, journals, and accruals/prepayments.
- Prepare and maintain management accounts, Gross Profit analysis, and other financial reporting schedules.
- Analyse variances to budget and prior year and provide actionable insights.
- Design and produce Business Intelligence (BI) reports to monitor commercial performance and operational KPIs.
- Reconcile intergroup purchases, production hours, and sales vs BI data.
- Maintain communication with stakeholders across finance, production, and sales, supporting business partnering activities.
- Take ownership of data accuracy and reporting processes, recommending improvements where possible.
- Assist the Finance Team with ad hoc analysis, reporting, and cover during absences.
- Proactively develop skills relevant to the role and business objectives.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 2-3 years' experience in finance or accounting, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
- AAT qualified (Level 4) or studying; part-qualified ACCA/CIMA desirable.
- Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, data analysis) and experience with Microsoft D365 or similar ERP systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Confident communicator with the ability to collaborate across teams and stakeholders.
- Proactive, driven, and eager to learn and develop professionally.
- Flexible attitude and ability to work to strict reporting deadlines.
Salary & Benefits
- Competitive salary up to £36,000 per annum, depending on experience.
