I am currently recruiting for a Deputy Chief Accountant for a council based in the heart of England. The role is paying £600 p/day and will be for 6 months.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Management: Undertake some of the day to day management of the team, that while high performing will need some support during the next 6 months.
  • Operational Oversight: Support the day-to-day audit, freeing up the Chief Accountant to focus on complex issues that need unpicking.
  • Issue Resolution: Take ownership of tackling and resolving historic financial and other audit items.
  • Audit Management: Serve as the day to day lead on the external audit, under supervision of the Chief Accountant, preparing documentation and addressing audit inquiries.
  • Balance Sheet Management: Undertake reviews and put in place quality reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Strategic Impact: This role is critical for providing stability and continuity. By tackling existing issues, you will free up our interim Chief Accountant to focus on strategic initiatives and complex, long-standing projects.
