I am recruiting for a Senior Accountant – Transactions. The role is 6 months long, pays up to £400 per day, and is hybrid (one day per week in office, based in the home counties).

Main Duties

  • Carry out the daily, monthly and quarterly treasury operations as required.
  • Assist in maintaining robust treasury management policies and procedures for the Council (e.g. TMSS, TMPs & TMSs) and review them for appropriateness, recommending changes to ensure effective control and management of treasury risks and activities.
  • Maintain the Council's liquidity position by managing cash surpluses in line with investment policies and strategies.
  • Lead the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Payroll teams on a day‐to‐day basis, including communicating via regular one‐to‐one meetings, setting annual targets, conducting staff appraisals, holding section meetings, contributing to training and development plans, and supporting succession planning or recruitment.
  • Develop and maintain the central record of procedures and controls for the team, updating it regularly as part of continuous improvement.
  • Provide assistance, support and information related to audits and reviews of Treasury and Exchequer Services or wider Finance processes and accounts, as well as planning, preparing and engaging with auditors as required.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role, preferably within a local government setting, though experience in other public sector roles will also be considered.
