An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Interim Treasury and Pensions Accountant to join a small, highly collaborative team in a Local Authority, providing essential support across both operational and strategic finance functions.
In this role, you will work closely with a part‑time Principal Accountant to deliver a wide range of hands‑on treasury and pensions accounting, alongside supporting the production of committee reports and key year‑end activities.
What you'll be doing:
- Delivering day‑to‑day operational treasury and pensions activity
- Leading on the production of Treasury and Pensions committee reports
- Taking responsibility for significant portions of year‑end closedown for these areas
- Supporting investment, borrowing, cashflow, LGPS fund accounting and related technical work
- Working closely with the pensions administration team (though not line‑managing them)
- Providing robust, accurate, and timely financial insight to senior stakeholders
What our client is looking for:
- Significant experience in Local Authority Treasury and Pensions accounting
- Strong hands‑on technical skills in treasury management, pension fund accounting, and year‑end processes
- Ability to balance operational delivery with strategic outputs (including committee reporting)
