Overview
My Local Government client is looking to recruit a qualified and experienced Financial Accountant to join the team on a permanent basis. Reporting into the Head of Finance, the role of Financial Accountant will be responsible for providing professional financial support and advice as well as providing effective leadership to the accountancy team ensuring a high level of service is delivered.
Responsibilities
- Supporting in the preparation of the Final Accounts to an extremely high quality and within all reporting deadlines including all necessary financial statements working papers and returns.
- Supporting in the preparation of the annual budget, financial plan and 3 year budget including all necessary budget working papers.
- Ensuring correct accounting treatment at the financial year end for both business rates and Council Tax. Working cross‑organisation to ensure that all returns are completed on time and financial reporting is in line with current legislation.
- Ensuring that the asset register is maintained and capital expenditure and financing are treated correctly.
- Being the financial lead across various projects.
Qualifications
Requires a fully qualified accountant with previous Local Government experience, especially in Collection Fund, Capital Accounting and Financial Accounting.
Compensation and Logistics
This is a permanent role with a salary range of £55,000 to £60,000. The role requires 2 days a week in the Kent office.
