About the client
Morgan Law are seeking an interim Financial Accountant (Year End) for a Local Authority in the London area.
Accountabilities
- Assisting and motivating a team delivering accounting, systems and capital finance activities.
- Assisting the closure of the council's accounts, including the production of the statutory Annual Statement of Accounts (or Statement of Accounts) in accordance with the CIPFA/LASAAC Code of Practice.
- Producing high-quality annual accounts and supporting smooth external audit processes.
- Maintaining robust financial controls and oversight of key financial processes.
- Reviewing, developing, and embedding improvements in financial processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Providing clear, practical advice to senior Finance leaders in a rapidly changing public-sector environment.
Candidate Requirements
- Qualified accountant (CIPFA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent) (E)
- 5 years experience as a Financial Accountant in a local authority setting and a deep knowledge of statutory accounting requirements (E)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Immediately available for work
