A South East based Local Government client is looking for an Interim Fixed Assets Accountant to join them for a period of up to 6 months. Reporting into the Head of Finance, you will take ownership of the Council's Fixed Asset Registers, completing the 2025/26 year-end and audit requirements, while ensuring the registers are maintained accurately throughout 2026/27 in preparation for the next year-end.
Day to day your role will include:
- Asset Register Management: Maintain and update the council's Capital Asset Register, ensuring absolute accuracy of financial data.
- Capital Accounting: Lead on the technical accounting treatments for asset additions, disposals, impairments, revaluations, and depreciation.
- Year-End Financials: Produce comprehensive capital statements, disclosure notes, and working papers for the annual Statement of Accounts, serving as a key contact for external auditors.
- Capital Programme Support: Monitor and report on capital expenditure against budgets, providing variance analysis to project leads and senior stakeholders.
- Compliance & Guidance: Ensure all accounting practices strictly align with CIPFA guidelines, IFRS, and internal financial regulations.
To be considered for the role you will need to be a local government financial specialist with strong technical experience across fixed assets. You will need to be CCAB qualified and have strong knowledge of Fixed Asset Registers and General Ledger reconciliations as well as capital accounting, asset valuations, depreciation, disposals and impairments.
This is an interim role with 1 to 2 days a week in the office and paying circa Β£(Apply online only).
