About the Association of Educational Psychologists

The AEP is the only trade union and professional association in the UK organised exclusively for and by Educational Psychologists. A small organisation, employing less than 20 people, it was founded in 1962 and today represents over 4000 members across the UK.

The AEP is committed to raising the profile of educational psychology and empowers its members across the profession to help children and young people thrive.

The Role

The role of the Finance Manager will be to manage the provision of financial guidance, support and information provided to the General Secretary and organisation as well as be responsible for and manage all the necessary day to day operations relating to the AEP's financial transactions and auditing requirements.

Key responsibilities of the role will include:

  • To prepare financial reports and briefing notes for the NEC where necessary.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to support the organisational goals.
  • Manage the preparation of financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Implement and maintain internal financial controls and procedures.
  • To assist the General Secretary with the submission of any information as required by relevant bodies.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and manage the audit process.
  • To work closely with senior officers in order to review, develop and implement effective systems which make full use of ICT, to support business and service delivery processes within the AEP.

The Person

To be considered for the role you will need to be a fully or part qualified CCAB accountant with excellent numeracy, budget planning and analytical skills. You will have substantial experience of managing and delivering financial planning, and reporting for an organisation as well as previous team management experience.

The role is being offered on a home working contract with a salary of £44,454 which will rise to £47,684 + a location allowance up to £5,704 as well as an excellent benefits package.

Interview will be held around the 26th and 27th January.
