We are recruiting an Interim Chief People Officer for Brainkind, the UK's leading charity supporting people to thrive after a brain injury, providing specialist rehabilitation, residential services and community support across the country. With over 40 years of experience, it is also the UK's largest not-for-profit brain injury charity, known for combining clinical expertise with innovative, person-centred care through a nationwide network of services.

We are seeking an Interim Chief People Officer for a fixed term contract of 12 months to lead our People function and shape the future of our workforce. This role will work closely with the Chief Executive and Senior Management Team to deliver a modern, impactful HR strategy that supports our mission and strengthens our culture.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the organisation-wide HR strategy
  • Improving HR operations, systems and policies
  • Driving organisational development and culture initiatives
  • Developing leadership and talent across Brainkind
  • Overseeing workforce planning and recruitment approaches
  • Using people data and insights to inform decision-making

You will provide expert HR counsel to the CEO, senior leaders and Board, influencing at the highest level.

We are looking for someone with MCIPD or FCIPD; experience operating at HR Director level, ideally within the charity or social care sector; a track record of leading multi-site, multi-disciplinary teams; strong organisational development and change leadership skills; and the ability to build credibility and trust with senior stakeholders.

This is an opportunity to help shape the culture and capability of a charity that has been transforming lives for decades and continues to innovate in support of people with brain injuries across the UK. Offices are based at Burgess Hill, Sussex and York. Hybrid working available. Ideally to start ASAP but some flexibility.
