The Role
- Supervising the day-to-day activities within the yard
- Coordinating and allocating work to the yard team
- Ensuring materials and products are moved, stored and prepared correctly
- Overseeing loading and unloading activities
- Ensuring the yard remains organised, clean and safe
- Operating relevant yard equipment and machinery where required
- Supporting with manual handling and general yard duties
- Monitoring workflow and ensuring daily targets are achieved
- Carrying out regular checks to maintain quality and safety standards
- Ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed
- Reporting any issues or operational concerns to management
- Supporting and guiding team members on a day-to-day basis
- Working closely with other departments to ensure a smooth production process
- Helping to maintain a positive and productive working environment
About You
We're looking for a reliable and confident individual who is comfortable taking responsibility and leading a team within a busy, hands-on environment.
Essential
- Previous experience within a yard, warehouse, manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment
- Previous supervisory or team-leading experience
- Confident organising workloads and allocating tasks
- Strong understanding of health and safety procedures
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Physically fit and comfortable with hands-on work
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking
- Good attention to detail
- Able to work independently and use your own initiative
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Able to work effectively as part of a team
Desirable
- Experience within a steel, fabrication or galvanising environment
- Experience operating lifting equipment or overhead cranes
- Previous experience working within a busy industrial yard
- Relevant machinery or equipment qualifications
