Morgan Jones is working confidentially with a well-established UK contractor to recruit an Estimator to support the delivery of civil engineering projects. This is a hands-on estimating role, ideal for someone with solid experience in pricing civil works who is looking to progress their career within a supportive and commercially focused environment. You will be involved in preparing accurate, competitive tenders across highways, local authority and private sector projects. The role involves working closely with the commercial, operational and senior estimating teams, producing detailed cost estimates and supporting the tender process from enquiry through to submission. You will contribute to pricing decisions and help ensure bids are commercially viable and aligned with operational delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate estimates for civil engineering projects
  • Build up costs for labour, plant, materials and subcontractors
  • Analyse tender documentation, drawings and specifications
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations
  • Assist with value engineering and alternative solutions where appropriate
  • Support tender submissions and clarifications
  • Maintain cost data, benchmarks and pricing records
  • Work collaboratively with commercial and delivery teams to ensure smooth handovers

About You

  • Previous experience as an Estimator within civil engineering or construction
  • Knowledge of highways, local authority or infrastructure projects
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Good understanding of NEC and/or JCT contracts (desirable)
  • Organised, detail-focused and able to manage multiple tenders
