Quality Control Inspector needed to join a precision engineering business. You’ll ensure incoming materials meet strict standards through inspection, testing, and reporting, supporting product quality, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Location: Whitstable, Kent
Salary: £DOE + company benefits, pension, training & development, 25 days holiday
Responsibilities:
- Inspect incoming materials against drawings, specifications, and standards
- Carry out dimensional, visual, and functional inspections
- Use calipers, micrometres, gauges, and test equipment accurately
- Interpret technical drawings and material requirements
- Record inspection results clearly in line with procedures
- Maintain organised documentation for audit and traceability
- Identify non-conformances and raise Supplier NCRs
- Capture supporting evidence including photos, measurements, and test data
- Liaise with suppliers, procurement, and engineering to resolve issues
- Support internal quality systems and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure correct handling, storage, and identification of materials
- Conduct first-stage inspection of customer returns
Candidate requirements:
- Previous experience in a quality inspection role within manufacturing or engineering
- Experience inspecting mechanical or securement-type components
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Familiarity with inspection tools and quality processes (ISO 9001 desirable)
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and IT skills, including WMS systems
- Self-motivated, organised, and a strong team player
