Quality Control Inspector needed to join a precision engineering business. You’ll ensure incoming materials meet strict standards through inspection, testing, and reporting, supporting product quality, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Location: Whitstable, Kent

Salary: £DOE + company benefits, pension, training & development, 25 days holiday

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect incoming materials against drawings, specifications, and standards
  • Carry out dimensional, visual, and functional inspections
  • Use calipers, micrometres, gauges, and test equipment accurately
  • Interpret technical drawings and material requirements
  • Record inspection results clearly in line with procedures
  • Maintain organised documentation for audit and traceability
  • Identify non-conformances and raise Supplier NCRs
  • Capture supporting evidence including photos, measurements, and test data
  • Liaise with suppliers, procurement, and engineering to resolve issues
  • Support internal quality systems and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure correct handling, storage, and identification of materials
  • Conduct first-stage inspection of customer returns

Candidate requirements:

  • Previous experience in a quality inspection role within manufacturing or engineering
  • Experience inspecting mechanical or securement-type components
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Familiarity with inspection tools and quality processes (ISO 9001 desirable)
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and IT skills, including WMS systems
  • Self-motivated, organised, and a strong team player
