Hands-on Process Technician – Pyrolysis Plant
Location: Hoo, Medway
Salary: £35,000 – £37,500 per annum (DOE)
We are a leading operator in advanced thermal processing seeking a hands‑on Process Technician to run a pyrolysis plant during commissioning and full operations. The role offers a strong safety culture, permanent employment, and a long‑term career path in clean technology.
Shifts: Initially 12‑hour shifts, 4 on / 4 off. Potential move to an 8‑hour, 3‑shift rotation covering days, nights, weekends and holidays.
Key responsibilities:
- Operate, monitor, start up and shut down the pyrolysis plant and auxiliary systems.
- Adjust temperatures, pressures and flow rates to maintain optimal conditions.
- Identify and respond to alarms, deviations and equipment issues.
- Record, analyse and report process and production data.
- Prepare materials, manage goods‑in and move materials through the system.
- Carry out routine inspections, basic maintenance and housekeeping.
- Follow all HSE procedures, permits, risk assessments and HAZOPs.
- Communicate effectively across shift handovers and support new starters.
What we’re looking for:
- Technical qualification or apprenticeship in process operations or engineering.
- Experience in industrial, thermal, chemical or continuous process environments.
- Strong safety awareness and process control understanding.
- Willingness to work shifts.
- Full UK driving licence and own transport (remote site).
