Nursery Assistant

About the Role Do you have a current Enhanced DBS certificate with a Children's Barred List check? Do you hold a Level 3 Nursery or Early Years qualification (or equivalent)? We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Nursery Assistant / Nursery Practitioner to join a friendly nursery setting in Canterbury, Kent. This temporary opportunity is ideal for an experienced Early Years professional who is passionate about supporting children's learning, development, and wellbeing in a safe and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day care and education of children aged 0-5 years.
  • Assist in planning and delivering engaging, age-appropriate activities in line with the EYFS framework.
  • Create and maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment.
  • Observe and record children's development and progress.
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and nursery policies at all times.
  • Support children's personal care needs where required.
  • Promote children's social, emotional, physical, and educational development.

Requirements

  • Level 3 qualification in Early Years Childcare or equivalent (essential).
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate (preferably on the Update Service) or willingness to obtain one.
  • Previous experience working within a nursery or early years setting.
  • Good knowledge of the EYFS framework and safeguarding procedures.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A caring, reliable, and professional approach.
  • Available to start at the beginning of September.
