Husbandry Technician

Husbandry Technician Salary: £12.71 per hour Location: Edinburgh Contract Type: Contract Hours: 37.5 hours per week – including weekends

We have a fantastic opportunity in Edinburgh for a Husbandry Technician to work for one of our clients. You will be working full‑time, on a weekly rota which may include some weekend work. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in maintaining exceptionally high hygiene standards and supporting daily husbandry operations.

Responsibilities for the role of a Husbandry Technician

• Clean and disinfect enclosures to strict hygiene and biosecurity standards
• Wash and sterilise equipment including tools, racks, bottles, and housing materials
• Prepare clean bedding and materials for daily husbandry routines
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas including corridors, prep rooms, and storage spaces
• Support waste management through safe disposal and handling of materials
• Assist with basic husbandry tasks as required
• Contribute to the maintenance of an efficient Quality Management System
• Other duties as deemed reasonable

Skills and Experience for the role of a Husbandry Technician

• Demonstrate accuracy and strong attention to detail
• Good communication skills
• Able to follow detailed cleaning and hygiene instructions
• Flexible attitude and willingness to learn new skills and processes
• Patient, courteous, and professional
• Comfortable working under strict hygiene and biosecurity conditions
• Experience working in a controlled environment (animal, farm, lab, or similar) is highly beneficial
