About the Role
Our Client is seeking a motivated and reliable Machine Setter / Operator to join their Machine Shop team in Whitstable. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC professional to join a well-established manufacturing business producing precision-engineered components for internal assembly operations. Working within a fast-paced production environment, you will be responsible for setting and operating CNC multi-tasking lathes to manufacture components to exact specifications while maintaining exceptional quality and delivery standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and operate CNC lathes to produce small and medium production batches.
- Manufacture components from raw materials efficiently and accurately.
- Inspect finished work against engineering drawings using a range of measuring equipment.
- Identify and report any quality concerns or defects promptly.
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly machine maintenance checks.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards and support 5S initiatives.
- Reduce setup and cycle times while monitoring tooling performance and efficiency.
- Carry out de-burring, cleaning, final inspection, and completion of traceability documentation.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet production targets and deadlines.
About You
- Previous experience operating CNC machine tools.
- Experience working with CNC lathes, ideally with a minimum of 4-axis machinery.
- Knowledge of reading and editing Fanuc-based programs.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience using measuring equipment for detailed quality inspection.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Safety-conscious with excellent communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
Desirable
- Experience with twin spindle machines.
- Knowledge of AS9100 aerospace quality standards.
