About the Role
Our Client is seeking a proactive and commercially aware Buyer to join their Operations team in Sandwich.
Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, this role is focused on procurement and supplier management, supporting the business by ensuring materials and services are purchased efficiently, cost‑effectively, and in line with operational requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in engineering procurement who enjoys working in a fast‑paced environment and engaging with suppliers, engineering, and quality teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure materials and services to meet business requirements.
- Communicate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to obtain competitive quotations with clear cost breakdowns.
- Raise and manage Purchase Orders and Purchase Requisitions.
- Generate RFQs and RFIs and analyse supplier responses.
- Prepare costings and manufacturing estimates to support sales and engineering teams.
- Liaise with Engineering on supplier selection and with Quality on vendor performance.
- Resolve invoice queries and support import clearance processes.
- Prepare purchasing and supplier performance reports.
- Carry out quotation comparisons and cost analysis.
- Progress orders and ensure timely delivery.
- Support ongoing supplier performance monitoring.
- Undertake additional tasks as required to support Operations.
Skills & Experience Required
- Experience within an engineering or manufacturing procurement environment.
- Strong commercial awareness with excellent negotiation skills.
- Confident communicator with a professional and assertive telephone manner.
- Highly organised with strong prioritisation skills.
- Comfortable analysing complex information with multiple variables.
- Knowledge of engineering terminology and procurement processes.
- Experience working with MRP systems and standalone requisitions.
