Financial Controller | Broadstairs, Kent | £60,000-£65,000 + Career Progression. Lead finance for a successful multi-site East Kent business. Reporting to the MD, you'll drive financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow and strategic decision-making while managing an experienced finance team.

Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 per annum (DOE)

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm

Work Pattern: Office Based

The Opportunity

Our client, a well-established and highly respected multi-site business in East Kent, is looking to appoint an experienced Financial Controller to join its senior leadership team.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take ownership of the finance function, ensuring robust financial management, accurate reporting and commercial insight to support business growth and performance.

A key part of the role will also be to review and modernise existing finance systems and processes, introducing greater efficiency, automation and consistency across the function.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished Financial Controller, Finance Manager, Head of Finance or Senior Accountant seeking a varied and influential role within a stable and successful organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and modernise existing finance systems, processes and procedures, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, reporting and controls
  • Lead the development and implementation of improved financial processes and systems, ensuring the finance function is fit for future growth
  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations across multiple locations
  • Produce monthly management accounts and financial reports
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
  • Maintain and enhance financial controls, systems and procedures
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions
  • Ensure payroll is managed accurately and efficiently
  • Liaise with auditors, accountants and external stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting requirements
  • Provide meaningful financial analysis and commercial insight
  • Support, mentor and develop the finance team
  • Drive continuous improvement across finance processes

About You

  • Experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, Head of Finance or similar senior finance role
  • Strong management accounting and financial reporting expertise
  • A proactive approach to improving and modernising finance systems and processes, with the confidence to identify what could be done differently and implement change
  • Budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management experience
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management abilities
  • Experience working across multi-site operations
  • ACCA, ACA or CIMA qualification desirable, although qualified by experience candidates are encouraged to apply
