About the Role
As a Mechanical Component Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring CNC‑machined components meet all engineering drawings, customer specifications, and industry quality standards before release. You’ll use a wide range of precision inspection tools and support continuous improvement across the production process.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect precision CNC‑machined components to aerospace and motorsport tolerances.
- Operate and programme CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines) to verify complex part geometry.
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and customer specifications.
- Complete First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR/FAI) to required standards.
- Use a full range of metrology tools: micrometres, verniers, height gauges, bore gauges, thread gauges, surface finish testers, etc.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation.
- Identify, log, and report non‑conformances; support root‑cause investigation and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to support continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100 / ISO9001 quality management systems.
- Assist with internal and external audits when required.
Skills & Experience Required
- Experience inspecting precision CNC‑machined components.
- Proficient in CMM operation and programming (any software considered).
- Experience completing FAIR / FAI documentation.
- Strong ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Excellent use of precision measurement tools and inspection equipment.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and problem‑solving ability.
- Background in aerospace, motorsport, or high‑precision engineering is highly desirable.
