Our client, a respected and growing food manufacturer, is seeking a confident Assistant Production Manager to support daily operations and lead production teams. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, champions continuous improvement, and enjoys developing people while maintaining strong safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily production activities to meet quality and output targets
- Drive continuous improvement and cost efficiency
- Ensure full compliance with BRCGS, H&S and customer standards
- Manage, coach and develop Production teams
- Support recruitment, training and colleague development plans
- Monitor KPIs, performance data, and implement corrective actions
- Maintain audit-ready standards and support external audits
- Ensure safe systems of work and a strong safety culture
- Plan labour resources to meet operational needs
- Lead and participate in business projects
- Provide accurate MI data to management
- Deputise for the Operations & Engineering Manager as required
Person Specification
- At least 3 years’ experience in production supervision/management
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in food manufacturing
- Strong people management and coaching skills
- Knowledge of H&S and audit compliance
- Skilled in resource planning and performance improvement
- Strong problem-solving ability and calm under pressure
- High attention to detail and commitment to standards
- Strong IT skills, especially Microsoft Office
- Educated to a good standard in English and Maths
- Must hold: HACCP, Food Safety Level 3, IOSH Managing Safely and Lean Management certification
Desirable: Supervisory/management qualification, BRC or SEDEX knowledge, retail customer experience.
