Our client, a respected and growing food manufacturer, is seeking a confident Assistant Production Manager to support daily operations and lead production teams. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily production activities to meet quality and output targets
  • Drive continuous improvement and cost efficiency
  • Ensure full compliance with BRCGS, H&S and customer standards
  • Manage, coach and develop Production teams
  • Support recruitment, training and colleague development plans
  • Monitor KPIs, performance data, and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain audit-ready standards and support external audits
  • Ensure safe systems of work and a strong safety culture
  • Plan labour resources to meet operational needs
  • Lead and participate in business projects
  • Provide accurate MI data to management
  • Deputise for the Operations & Engineering Manager as required

Person Specification

  • At least 3 years’ experience in production supervision/management
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in food manufacturing
  • Strong people management and coaching skills
  • Knowledge of H&S and audit compliance
  • Skilled in resource planning and performance improvement
  • Strong problem-solving ability and calm under pressure
  • High attention to detail and commitment to standards
  • Strong IT skills, especially Microsoft Office
  • Educated to a good standard in English and Maths
  • Must hold: HACCP, Food Safety Level 3, IOSH Managing Safely and Lean Management certification

Desirable: Supervisory/management qualification, BRC or SEDEX knowledge, retail customer experience.
