Role

As a Senior Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer, you will lead and support the delivery of mechanical building services designs for hyperscale data centre developments, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards. You will manage the mechanical design process, support procurement activities, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and maintain strong client relationships throughout project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the Mechanical Design team across multiple projects
  • Produce and review mechanical designs, schematics, calculations and technical documentation
  • Deliver mechanical building services designs for hyperscale data centre projects
  • Manage and coordinate the M&E design and procurement process
  • Ensure compliance with UK regulations, industry standards and CDM requirements
  • Carry out and review engineering calculations
  • Coordinate designs with electrical, structural and architectural teams
  • Attend client meetings, workshops and technical reviews
  • Manage project budgets, schedules and resource allocation
  • Respond to RFIs, technical submissions and design queries
  • Support business development and identify new project opportunities
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers
  • Support the continued development of company design standards and best practices

About You

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
  • ACIBSE essential, MCIBSE desirable
  • Significant experience within Mechanical Building Services Design
  • Proven experience working on hyperscale data centre projects
  • Experience managing M&E design and procurement activities
  • Strong understanding of critical cooling infrastructure and mission‑critical environments
  • Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong project leadership experience
  • Full UK driving licence desirable
