Our client is a well‑established engineering organisation delivering advanced hardware and software solutions into demanding operational environments. This is an opportunity to lead technically complex projects that genuinely matter, working with highly skilled, multidisciplinary teams and engaged end users.
As Technical Project Manager, you will take full ownership of multiple engineering projects, leading them from definition through delivery. You will balance technical, commercial and scheduling priorities to ensure projects are delivered to scope, quality, time and budget, while maintaining strong stakeholder and customer relationships. The role suits someone confident operating across hardware, software and firmware programmes, ideally within defence or maritime settings.
Key responsibilities:- Lead and coordinate cross‑functional engineering project teams
- Define project scope, objectives, plans and delivery milestones
- Manage schedules, budgets, cost models and resource allocation
- Track progress, performance, quality and risk, escalating as required
- Manage change control across scope, cost and timelines
- Liaise with operations, supply chain and third‑party vendors
- Support bids and proposals with cost and delivery input
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation and reporting
- Build strong client and stakeholder relationships
- Engineering background, ideally systems, software or electronics
- Proven project management experience in engineering environments
- Knowledge of NPI, gated development and product ionisation
- Experience delivering projects for maritime environments (preferably military)
- Strong planning, budgeting, risk and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- PMP or PRINCE2 certification desirable
- Confident user of MS Office, MS Project and PM tools
Due to the nature of the work, all candidates must be eligible to obtain SC clearance.
