The role:
You will lead and develop the estimating function, ensuring tenders are accurate, competitive and aligned with commercial and operational strategy. Working closely with sales, commercial and operational teams, you will help secure profitable and well-managed projects.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead, manage and mentor the estimating team
- Allocate tenders and manage workloads and deadlines
- Review and approve tender opportunities and submissions
- Oversee cost build-ups for labour, plant, materials and subcontractors
- Monitor market trends and supply chain conditions
- Maintain cost data and benchmarking information
- Manage tender risk, value engineering and alternative solutions
- Engage with clients during pre- and post-tender stages
- Support negotiations and commercial clarifications
- Ensure effective hand-over to commercial and delivery teams
About you:
- Background in Construction or Civil Engineering estimating
- Experience managing or mentoring estimators
- Strong commercial awareness and leadership skills
- Knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contracts
- Confident managing multiple high-value tenders
