About the Role: Our Client is seeking an experienced Rehousing Officer to join their Housing Needs team on an initial three month assignment. This role is focused on supporting individuals and families in housing need, with a strong emphasis on placing homeless households into suitable temporary accommodation. You will play a key role in delivering a responsive and effective rehousing service, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met while providing practical support and advice to vulnerable households.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and secure suitable temporary accommodation for homeless households
- Conduct visits to households to arrange tenancy sign ups and support Housing Benefit applications
- Provide welfare advice and support to customers in housing need
- Manage rent accounts, ensuring income is maximised and appropriate support is offered where needed
- Assess social housing applications in line with allocations policy, including investigation and verification
- Maintain accurate records on internal housing systems
- Offer proactive advice and guidance to applicants in line with statutory duties and housing policies
- Plan and coordinate both immediate and future placements, ensuring efficient use of available accommodation
